A). Introduction to Ramadan

Ramadan (Arabic: رمضان‎ Ramaḍān, Arabic pronunciation: [rɑmɑˈdˤɑːn]) (also Ramadhan, Ramadaan, Ramazan) is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, which lasts 29 to 30 days. It is the Islamic month of fasting, in which participating Muslims refrain from eating and drinking[1] during daylight hours and is intended to teach Muslims about patience, spirituality, humility and submissiveness to God. Muslims fast for the sake ofGod (Arabic: الله‎, trans: Allah) and to offer more prayer than usual. Compared to the solar calendar, the dates of Ramadan vary, moving backwards by about eleven days each year depending on the moon; thus, a person will have fasted every day of the calendar year in 34 years' time. Muslims believe Ramadan to be an auspicious month for the revelations of God to humankind, being the month in which the first verses of the Qur'an were revealed to the Islamic prophet, Muhammad.

B). Quranic Verses Pertaining Glorious Ramadan:

*
O ye who believe! Fasting is prescribed to you as it was prescribed to those before you, that ye may (learn) self-restraint,-[Holy Qur'an 2:183, Al-Baqara (The Cow)]

**
Ramadhan is the (month) in which was sent down the Qur'an, as a guide to mankind, also clear (Signs) for guidance and judgment (Between right and wrong). So every one of you who is present (at his home) during that month should spend it in fasting, but if any one is ill, or on a journey, the prescribed period (Should be made up) by days later. Allah intends every facility for you; He does not want to put to difficulties. (He wants you) to complete the prescribed period, and to glorify Him in that He has guided you; and perchance ye shall be grateful.[Holy Qur'an 2:185, Al-Baqara (The Cow)]

C). Hadith's Narrations Pertaining Glorious Ramadan:

The Messenger of Allah PBUH said:

(1) “When Ramadan comes, the gates of Paradise are opened and the gates of Hell are closed, and the devils are put in chains.” [Agreed upon].

(2) “Whoever fasts Ramadan out of faith and with the hope of (Allah’s) reward, all his previous sins will be forgiven.” [Al-Bukhaari]

D). Practices During Month of Ramadan

* Fasting * Prayer and reading of the Qur'an* Iftar* Charity* Laylat al-Qadr (among other righteous deeds)

InshaAllah, as time goes, we will make a broad definition and elaborates the above mentioned Practices during this glorious month of Ramadan. It is also pertinent to mention that, believers were enjoined to, with keen interest and devotion, create an ample time of remembering Almighty Allah through; Dhikr, Nawafils, Supplications, Invocations and/or calling other peoples (Muslims and Non-Muslims) to the way of Allah, as well as avoiding wasting much time on something not worth doing...
